Joe Calzaghe has been selected to appear in the new series of BBC TV's Strictly Come Dancing.
Commencing on September 18th live on BBC One, Calzaghe will partner with professional dancer, Kristina Rihanoff. Speaking at the official launch Calzaghe said: "When I retired from the ring I said I wanted to devote some of my time to helping charities, especially charities focused on the prevention of bullying. I hope that my taking part in Strictly Come Dancing will help raise the profile of the great work that organisations of this nature undertake."
Calzaghe added: "For me personally, taking part in the show is about following a dream and learning to do something I've always wanted to do – even though I'll be starting out with two left feet!"
"It's a massive challenge because I've never done ballroom dancing in my life. I'm very nervous, but I really hope that I can end up doing it well. I’m going to have train really hard to learn completely new skills."
"I managed to stay undefeated in the ring but I have a feeling that this is going to be far harder. Fingers - but hopefully not feet! - crossed that I can last at least some of the distance."
