Over 65,000 fans traveled to Old Trafford to see Joe Calzaghe and his fellow Rest of the World teammates lift the Soccer Aid 2010 trophy.
After an exciting 90 minutes of none stop action which saw Calzaghe link up with some of the worlds best footballers including Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Ryan Giggs and Henrik Larson, as well as stars from the world of music and entertainment including actors Mike Myers and Woody Harrelson, and score an important goal which helped his team take the game to a penalty shoot out after a 2-2 draw in normal time. They went on to win 7–6 on penalties after a tense shoot out.
Captained by actor Michael Sheen and managed by Liverpool and Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish as Manager, the Rest of the World team took on Harry Redknapp's England team, captained by Robbie Williams, which also included Alan Shearer, Jamie Redknapp and Teddy Sheringham, as well as fellow boxer Ricky Hatton.
World renowned referee Pierluigi Collina kept order on the pitch, and the event raised over £2 Million pounds in aid of UNICEF.
